It’s Here! – Forklift Safety Pro for iPhone
Select Equipment has launched Forklift Safety Pro, the first ever Forklift Daily Inspection Mobile Application for Apple’s iOS platform to run on iPhone, iPod, and iPad. A version for Google’s Android operating system will be launched shortly.
Forklift Safety Pro
allows lift truck operators to complete their daily or pre-shift inspections electronically using their iPhone or iPod mobile device. The completed inspection reports are then transmitted electronically to the email address of your choosing, typically a supervisor or dedicated inspection form repository.
According to Dale Verseput, Select Equipment’s Director of Sales, “The daily and pre-shift inspection reports as required by OSHA really lend themselves to the portability of a mobile application. With Forklift Safety Pro, the employer has an inspection report which is Date/Time Stamped, is secure and durable, and can be archived in a paperless format.”
Other features of the app include a daily safety question, a counter which lets the operator know how many days are left before he or she is required to be “re-certified”, and if needed, an OSHA incident report form, a service request form, and an unsafe vehicle reporting form. The App is sold on Apple’s iTunes and App Store for $4.99USD.
Verseput continues, “For a one time fee of $4.99, there are huge efficiencies that are gained. For operators who are dedicated to driving the same unit each day, they can store their default truck specs in the app to speed up their inspection time even further. Piles of illegible inspection forms and their requisite folders or notebooks are also eliminated.”
Operators also have the ability to store their local lift truck service provider’s contact information in the “Settings” panel for quick access. Several enhancements and additional features are also planned for the near future which will come free of charge to purchasers as downloadable “Updates”.
Verseput concludes, “We are very excited about bringing mobile technology to the business of material handling, and this is just a first step. We are also encouraging employers to consider reimbursing their operators for the one time $4.99 fee as it will greatly improve accuracy and efficiency of reporting in their operations.”

What a great idea. I guess in any aspect technology can really simplify matters. I can’t wait to tell my colleagues about this app.
